Who we are

EnglishReads is a service of Lunar Code Tech, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce under number 42163508, Gritpad 5, 2201 JL Noordwijk, the Netherlands. We are the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at info@lunarcode-tech.com.

The short version

• You can read every page of this website without giving us anything. We use no advertising trackers.
• We use Google Analytics to count visits, but only if you accept it in the cookie banner. If you reject it or ignore the banner, no analytics script is loaded and no analytics cookie is set.
• If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address so we can tell you when EnglishReads opens. Nothing else.
• You can leave the waitlist at any time, and we will delete your address.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store:

• your email address;
• the language you chose on the page (so our email can be in your language) and the page where you signed up;
• the date you signed up and the version of this notice you agreed to.

We use this only to email you when EnglishReads opens, and at most a few short updates before then. We do not sell or share your address, and we do not use it for advertising.

Our legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You must be 16 or older to join. You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by writing to info@lunarcode-tech.com. Withdrawing does not affect anything we did before.

We keep your address until you leave the waitlist, and in any case no longer than 12 months after the launch email.

Visiting the website

Pages are delivered by Cloudflare. Like any web server, it receives technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request, and uses it to deliver the pages and protect the site against attacks. We do not use this information to identify you.

Cookies and analytics

The first time you visit, a banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and the site works the same either way.

If you accept, Google Analytics 4 sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_<ID>, kept for up to 2 years) and tells us, in aggregate, how many people visit, which pages they read, which country and device type they use and where they came from. We use this only to understand which pages help learners and to improve the site. Google signals and ad personalization are switched off, the data is not used for advertising, and Google Analytics does not store your full IP address. We keep the reports for no longer than 14 months.

Our legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act). You can change your mind at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page; if you withdraw, we delete the analytics cookies and stop measuring. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage (er-consent).

The children's book pages never load Google Analytics.

Local storage

When you choose your language in a book's sample text, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the page remembers it. It never leaves your device, and you can clear it in your browser settings.

Who processes the data

• Supabase stores the waitlist, in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany).
• Cloudflare delivers the website.
• Google Ireland Limited provides Google Analytics, only if you accept it (see Cookies and analytics).
• When we send the launch email, an email delivery service will send it for us. We will name it here before the first email goes out.

These companies act as our processors under their data processing terms, which form part of our agreements with them. Where data may be handled outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States, the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You have the right to see the data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. Write to info@lunarcode-tech.com. We answer within one month.

If you think we handle your data wrongly, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or to the authority in your own country.

Changes

If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your email address, we will ask for your consent again.
